New Sussex building
This was a wonderful project - a new build house built in a classical style, we wanted the house to feel like it had always been in place and to fit in with the surroundings, its in the South Downs National Park, an area of outstanding natural beauty. Working closely with the architects enabling us to be involved in the overall project, particularly the layout of the property from conception made it very exciting. It took quite some time to get planning approval but the outcome is exactly what the clients dreamt of. The aim was to have a couple of large reception rooms for modern living, they love to entertain so the kitchen is the heart of the home, with an existing antique dining table. We had to work closely with the planners requirments, considering light pollution and not allowing an orangery style roof in this space. There is a large living room, cosy snug & study.
We also created a guest wing with downstairs bedrooms, this again was due to planning regulations & their requirements to have lots of rooves which was in keeping with the original footprint of the old dwelling. This wasn't appealing initially but we then realised that as the owners were retired it could be quite practical for later in life, rather than leaving a space to install a lift if required. These were a few of the many ideas that go through the planning process when designing a house from scatch. We also helped with the overall lighting & electrical layouts as well as furniutre arrangments & bathroom layouts & F but helping the clients create an updated look, changing the layout of the space, updating the bathrooms & kitchen. We created joinery, lighting, decorating & flooring specifications & supplied window treatments, furnishings & accessories.
